5 Yoga Poses for Lower Back Pain

Dealing with lower back pain? Yoga may be just what the doctor ordered. There are so many things that can cause extra pressure to build on the lower back area. Whether you are sitting all day for work, neglecting your core, or overexerting -- being prone to discomfort in the back area is common. Yoga has the ability to treat not only back pain but the stress that accompanies it. 

Certified yoga instructor, @doonayoga takes us through 5 yoga poses to help ease lower back pain. Get ready to stretch and say buh-bye to back soreness. 

Child's Pose

Modification: Knees together

Hold: 5-8 breaths

Thread the Needle

Modification: Keep hand grounded or straighten forward arm

Hold: 5-8 breaths each side

Switch Sides

Standing Forward Fold

Modification: Feet hip width or wider, bend knees

Hold: 5-8 breaths

Tips: Hinge from the hips and keep head relaxed

Figure Four

Modification: Layer one, keep foot grounded. Layer two, interlace finger behind thigh. 

Hold: 5-8 breaths each side

Tip: Keep lower back grounded

Supine Twist

Hold: 5-8 breaths each side
