Thanksgiving Traditions to Boost Health & Wellness

Ah, Thanksgiving. The holiday where we eat to our heartโ€™s content, spend time with family, and celebrate how lucky we are to be alive, happy, and healthy.ย  As we brave the turkey slices, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pies- itโ€™s important to keep in mind how these traditions can support our whole body health, year-round.ย

Mind

Give Thanks. This holiday tradition of expressing gratitude is actually great for your mind and soul. Going around the table and sharing what youโ€™re thankful for can often seem silly or even childish. But the roots behind the tradition is practicing mindfulness- which is something we should be doing all year long. More importantly, itโ€™s putting those gratuitous feelings into practice.ย

Maybe youโ€™re feeling grateful for the food on your table, turn your gratitude into a positive behavior by volunteering at a homeless shelter on a consistent basis. The act of helping others is often fulfilling and beneficial towards your mental and emotional wellbeing.ย

Body

Even though itโ€™s a holiday, you still need to care for your body. Many families traditionally eat Thanksgiving dinner early. This is actually a positive choice for your digestive system and something to keep in mind when you are planning meals year-round. Our bodies are more efficient at burning calories during the day when we are active. Whether you partake in your local Turkey trot or a family pick-up football game, itโ€™s important to find a way to move your body.ย

Pre-feast: Take Digestive Enzymes to give your digestive system a kickstart.*

Post feast: Takeย  Appleย  Cider Vinegar to assist with bloating.* Grab your Sweet Sweat Waist Trimmer and go for a walk around the block.

Soulย

Despite some of the stress and headaches Thanksgiving can bring when it comes to family or travel, there is also a sense of community that happens during this time of year. Itโ€™s been a tough couple of years and there is no better time than the present to strengthen your relationships. Having the ability to connect and bond with your loved ones is positive for you and your emotional health.ย

Make a point to connect with your family outside of the holidays- schedule regular calls or take a virtual workout class together.ย  During gatherings, donโ€™t be afraid to take 5-10 minutes to reset with aย  stress relieving sequence or body scan meditation.

ย

Go forth and indulge in both food and love. No matter the time of year, keep prioritizing a happier and healthier you!
